We will be going to Singapore next next week, Travel advice please...?

So, on Feb 20, my family and I wil go to Singapore, any spots on Singapore where there is less money to spend because I heard that it is a bit expensive there. Any food restaurants that are cheap but very satisfying, not only to the stomach but to the pocket as well?

I'm so excited to see the Merlion and Little India

What is little India like? Is it hot on Singapore?

AH!, there are a lot of questions that goes through my head the more we go near our date flight.... any Travel advice on Singapore would do, please help me.... thanks

Answer :
During the period which you are visiting Singapore...

Singapore have a hot and humid climate.
Temperature ranges from 24 degree celsius to 31 degree celsius. Light rain can be expected once in a while. Strong or moderate breeze.
Singapore will most likely not experience stormy weathers during your stay here. According to the recent updates, Singapore is having at least 80% below average rainfall recorded for the month of Jan already.

Little India - Hop on to NorthEast Line MRT and alight at Little India Station. Little India is the place where you can learn about the culture of one of the ethnic groups in Singapore; Indians. Little India is basically a "shopping street".

Visit Chinatown too! Chinatown is where you can get to know about the Chinese Ethnic Group. Take NorthEast Line MRT and alight at Chinatown station.

Visit some other places too: Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park, Haw Par Villa, Sentosa. (Must see on Sentosa Island: Songs of the Sea)

Food: For food try the Hawker Centers instead. You can easily get a plate of delicious local delights for an average of SGD$2. Restaurant in Singapore can be expensive.
Must try: Satay, Laksa, Black Pepper Crab, and many more!

Answer :
Singapore is a nice city country.

If you want to stay in cheap, you may go to serango area which is very near from Mustafa Plaza, a big shoping mall in Singapore. You will find there many hotel and restaurent in very cheap. Especially Indian and Bangladeshi food there, very cheap and tasty.

Little India is palace, street near to Mustafa Plaza, just walking distance. There are many shops and you can bargain.

If you need hotel name and address, you can ask me. I shall try my best.

Answer :
Little India on Sunday evenings, after 8. Its name comes alive with the massive crowds there. More details here: http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/st…

When in Little India, drop by Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple (141 Serangoon Road) that's hard to miss from the main road. "The pujas (prayers) are at 0800, noon, 1600, 1830 and 2100. To get the full experience, these are the best times to come." Other things you may want to try: http://www.littleindia.com.sg/stb/stb_mu…

Here's a great picture of part of Little India by Ibnuyahya: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co…

If you want shots of the local folks, especially the older generation, just take a seat at any old coffee shop (called "kopi tiam") with no air-con and order a coffee or tea. If you're lucky, you just may spot different races sharing a table, with the Chinese talking in Malay and the Indian rattling off in a Chinese dialect.

Wanna try ordering the drinks like a Singaporean? Have a gander here: http://whitelephant.wordpress.com/food/r…

Interested in watching a local flick or two? http://www.sinema.sg/oldschool/ would be a good place to check out. Tickets are S$6 or S$8. Not enough time? You can also pick up some DVDs there or order online if you're curious (but not curious enough to go :P).

And yes, do try the local food. Here's a small list of them:
- Hokkien Mee
- Char Kway Teow (rice noodles fried with a dark sauce)
- Carrot Cake (not the dessert you know at all)
- Prata and Tissue Prata (plenty in Little India!)
- Thosai/Dosai (also in Little India.)
- Chicken Rice
- Popiah http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popiah
- Satay (thin sticks of skewered barbecued meat)
- Laksa
- Lontong

Hawker centres or coffee shops would really be your best bet for cheap yet yummy tummy-filling food. They are usually without air-con, unlike food courts in malls.

Answer :
Eat at the food courts in most malls, or hawker stalls on the streets, they can be really cheap. Often things like rice/chicken for under $4 S each.

Little Indian is free to walk around
Chinatown walk around for free
Arab Quarter is free to walk around

Singapore Zoo is cool there is a Splash park there to have fun in.

Use the bus system/MRT system to get around

When buying things in places like Little India don't go with the first price, tell them to go lower, if they say $25, say $18 back. If you don't like it walk away.

Temps now in the high 20s/low 30s (Celsius), muggy at times but a nice breeze. Can be raining storms as well sometimes stop/start
